1508 Cherokee Road

Beautiful new listing in Louisville's Highlands next to Cherokee Park! Give us a call to schedule your private showing for 1508 Cherokee Road.

"This gracious home has stood sentry over Olmsted's Cherokee Park for the last 95 years, and was built like a fortress to withstand the next century with ease! The exquisite Italianate design was home to prominent attorney James R. Duffin (law partner of Augustus E. Wilson, who later became governor of Kentucky) and still holds a prestigious vantage point overlooking the park in the heart of the Highlands. Chosen as the site for the 1997 Bellarmine University Show House, the grandeur and skilled craftsmanship of the era are still very much in evidence in the large scale high-ceiling rooms, deep millwork, walnut parquet floors and magnificent hardware. The grand front to back salon boasts an Italian carved limestone maidenhead mantle, and there are lovely arched French doors opening to the limestone front piazza for alfresco entertaining. Numerous updates have made it livable and workable for today's lifestyle, yet the original aura of days gone by has been retained. Surrounded by a walled courtyard featuring a koi pond and babbling stream, it is surrounded by an area of small park lawn with views of Cherokee Park. Come enjoy living in one of the Highlands gems which embodies the best of life in Louisville!"

Blustery Outlook for St. Patrick's Day Parade

It's that time of year again to break out your favorite green...winter coat! While one can expect Louisville weather in March to range from snow to summery sun, this year will see the mercury dropping and attendees turning to their flasks for warmth during the annual Ancient Order of Hibernians St. Patrick's Day Parade. With the forecast currently projected at a blustery 30s and snow, be sure to plan ahead to keep warm as you carouse with other Irish-for-a-day folks from the intersection of Baxter and Broadway on up to Mid-City Mall. The parade runs from 3-6pm while bars and restaurants in the area will be having all-day specials. Don't let the weather keep you in - come out and support the great effort of all the folks who make this happen and keep Louisville's Irish heritage alive!

Support a safer River Road

Come out to the Louisville Water Tower (3005 River Road, Louisville, KY 40207) tonight, March 2nd, or March 14th, from 5-7pm to support Citizens for a Safer River Road.

Whether you're a driver frustrated by narrow shoulders and lack of safe passing options, or a cyclist who wants to enjoy the River Road Scenic Byway without holding up traffic or risking safety, this effort aims to improve the experience for all. Support for this plan is crucial at this time due to the opening of the new East End Bridge and the expected increase in traffic on River Road between the bridge and downtown Louisville. This stretch of road has the potential to be a great asset to our community that can be as enjoyable as it is beautiful!

Tafel Tips - Febraury 2013

We can all be procrastinators, but obstacles are most easily overcome when we take ‘baby steps’. During these glum weather days of February and early March, if you’re considering a move and not out house hunting, take the opportunity to organize one drawer at a time – and do some good while doing it! I recently started on one drawer, and was so proud of myself for finishing it that I tackled several more. After three station wagon loads to the Goodwill, I felt like a new person! I could actually FIND things, and I felt wonderful about helping the great folks at Goodwill. After all, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.

Drawer cleanout. Getting your home ready to sell.

The best upside is that your home will be organized and look clutter free to those prospective Buyers – who WILL be opening closets and checking things out thoroughly. If you appear neat and organized, it conveys the subliminal message to Buyers that you’re the type of homeowner who takes good care of things, thus making your property more desirable than the messy competitor’s!
